On October 15, 2025, the first Croatian Railway Safety Conference was held at the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure, Prisavlje 14, organized by the Air, Maritime and Railway Traffic Accidents Investigation Agency, the Croatian Railway Safety Agency and the Croatian Society of Railway Engineers (HDŽI).

As part of the Conference, leading experts in the field of railway safety, accidents investigation and industry introduced a number of current railway safety topics in their presentations, among which those related to risks, improvement of safety management systems and interoperability of the railway system among railway undertakings and infrastructure managers should be particularly emphasized.

Presentations related to the legislative framework and safety management system:

  • The role of the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure in the development of improving the safety of the railway system of the Republic of Croatia: Maša Viduka, Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure

  • Safety management system of HŽ Cargo, Admir Henić, HŽ Cargo d.o.o.
  • Safety management system of HŽ Infrastruktura, Tomislav Petanović, HŽ Infrastruktura d.o.o.

Presentations related to the development of interoperability:

  • Battery trains and charging stations – challenges in production, certification and homologation, Janko Breški, KONČAR – Electric Vehicles d.d.
  • Interoperable SS devices from Croatia for the world, Tin Viduka, Altpro d.o.o.
  • Modern approach to informing passengers in railway transport, Dario Bogojević, Elektrokem d.o.o.
  • Contribution of interoperability and railway transport safety – yesterday, today, tomorrow, Siemens Mobility GmbH

At the end of the Conference, a panel discussion was held, which was attended by:

The conference was moderated by Mislav Togonal, presenter from Croatian Radio Television (HRT).
